Abstract

The purpose of the study was to examine the contribution of community participation in the establishment of Early Childhood Development Education centers in Malakisi town council in Bungoma District. The study was guided by three objectives that is;- the analysis of the activities that the community participate in during the establishment of ECDE centers, constraints to the community participation in the establishment of ECDE centers and strategies that could be employed to enhance community participation of ECDE centers. The researcher used interview and questionnaire tools in the collection of data from the respondents that was used to compile their piece of work. The study found out that the community appreciated the participation through decision making, needs identification and resource mobilization and recommended that more involvement of stakeholders in the councils to scale up its financial allocations coupled with transparency and accountability of the school committees.
