dc.description.abstractThe study presented the relationship between resource management and academic performance of students in Bududa secondary schools, Uganda. The study was guided by three objectives: the relationship between financial resource management and academic performance, the relationship between human resource management and academic performance, and the relationship between material resources management and academic performance. A cross-sectional survey design was employed with the quantitative and qualitative research techniques. Data were collected by way of questionnaires, focus group discussions, documentary review and interviews. A set of 274 questionnaires comprising head teachers, deputy heads and directors of studies, teachers and students was used. Quantitative data collected were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), results presented and interpreted. The following were the findings of the study; Academic performance in USE Schools is affected by; insufficient funding from the government (average 92%), poor financial management (average= 83%), parents` failure to easily pay school fees and other fees , delays in funding disbursements by the government of Uganda (average= 89%), adequate textbooks (average 88%), availability of well stocked school libraries (average = 85%), laboratories with enough librarians/attendants , and material resources (mean= 84.8%). Recommendations to the study include; Strict supervision over teachers and students by administrators via attendance registers and roll-calls, regular inspection, effective monitoring of heads and teaching staff plus regular policy reviews and financial support from government, parental support and awareness of parents about their role especially fees payment and embracing financial literacy and financial management.en_US
