dc.description.abstractABSTRACT The study was conducted on the contribution of SOS to basic education service delivery in Mogadishu Somalia. The purpose of the study was to investigate the contribution of SOS to basic education service delivery in Mogadishu Somalia. The study was based on three objectives: To find out the relationship between unified quality curriculum and basic education service delivery in Save Our Souls in Mogadishu-Somalia, to examine the relationship between staff/teachers’ training and development and basic education service delivery in Save Our Souls in Mogadishu-Somalia and to establish the relationship between access to school infrastructures and basic education service delivery in Save Our Souls in Mogadishu-Somalia. The study was carried out using correlational research design to determine whether there is a relationship between SOS activities and basic education service delivery in Mogadishu Somalia. Simple random sampling, census inquiry and purposive sampling were employed to select the respondents. Questionnaire and interview guide were used as data collection tools and were distributed to a sample of 92 respondents consisting School principles, Administration staff, SOS foundation and SOS Students. Percentages and Pearson product moment correlation were employed in data analysis. In order to test for the reliability of the research instruments cronbach’s alpha coefficient was used. The reliability of the questionnaire was .962 which indicated that the questionnaire was reliable. The validity of the study was 0.913 which implied that content validity index is accepted because (CVI ≥0.5). Based on study findings it was found that unified quality curriculum had positive and significant relationship to the basic education service delivery in offered by SOS Mogadishu Somalia. [r= .952 p<0.05]. Secondly, teachers’ training and development had a strong and significant relationship to the basic education service delivery in offered by SOS Mogadishu Somalia. [r= .903 p<0.05]. Finally, access to school infrastructure also had a positive relationship to the basic education service delivery in offered by SOS Mogadishu Somalia. [r= .824 p<0.05]. In conclusion the researcher recommends to the management of SOS to continue using unified quality curriculum to improve basic education for young Somali children. Also the researcher recommends to the management of SOS to add to the curriculum peace education programmes. Finally, the researcher recommends to the management of SOS to add to the curriculum culture and religion of Somali people so as to produce graduates with Somali cultural outlook. Secondly, the researcher recommends to the management of SOS to train and develop the skills and competence of the teachers so as to improve the performance of the delivering basic education. However, the researcher also recommends to the management of SOS to provide adequate salary to the teachers so as to become motivated to the school teaching. Finally, the researcher recommends to the management of SOS to focus on improving access to clean, quiet, safe, comfortable, and healthy environments. Also the researcher recommends SOS management to establish adequate classrooms and teachers so as to enhance the quality of basic education.en_US
