The purpose of this study was to establish what the primary school management in Mbale district has done so far in implementing the girl child education strategy in Uganda and how successful this has been. The study was conducted using a qualitative study design. The schools were selected using purposive sampling. Data was collected using interview, observation and document analysis. Data collected was clustered and analyzed in line with the research questions. The results of the study established that the primary school managers in Mbale district are aware of the strategy and know what it calls for and they are implementing it. They have put in place some programmes to promote the education of the girl child namely guidance and counseling, PIACSY activities and straight talk clubs. In addition, they have improved on accommodation and sanitation. They have also improved on admissions, retention and performance of the girl child. Dropout and pregnancy cases in girls have reduced. It is recommended that urgent seminars and workshops at all levels should be conducted to sensitize the stakeholders on the implementation of the national strategy for girl child education in Ugandaen_US
