The Role of Parents and Teachers Association on School Management of Secondary Schools in Budadiri Sub- County, Sironko District.
Abstract
Parents as stakeholders play a vital role in the management of secondary schools. This study sought to establish the role of Parent Teacher Association on secondary school management in Budadiri Sub County, Sironko district. Specifically, the study investigate the role of PTA in planning of secondary schools; influence of parents’ participation on financial management of secondary schools and influence of parents’ participation on management of students’ discipline in Budadiri Sub County, Sironko District. The study employed cross sectional survey design. Questionnaire and interview were used for data collection. The population of this study was 168 out of which 99 respondents were used. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Findings of the study indicate that the PTA’s role in the school management in Budadiri secondary schools include planning, financial management and management of students’ discipline. However, the study found that PTA does not fully participate in the financial management of schools in Budadiri sub-county, Sironko District. The study recommends that PTA should be fully integrated in secondary school management process in order to supplement government and teachers effort.
