dc.description.abstractThis article addresses how distance education has enabled universities in Uganda to extend their educational services beyond their boundaries to student who are not on campus. This has increased on universities’ admissions while minimally controlling overcrowding. The article highlights the nature and mode of distance education in Uganda, opportunities, and the challenges encountered by the universities in offering distance education. In summary, the article suggests the ways in which distance education can be improved, as such, the article answers the fundamental question to whether Information and Communication Technology (ICT) innovations in distance education can improve and sustain distance education in Uganda.
