Consequently, with the attainment of independence various reforms were made in the Banking sector with the aim of making the banking terrain more impact and relevant to THE ECONOMY OF Uganda. This paper examines the legal and institutional frameworks that has been put in place from pre independence to present day for effective banking sector. the paper finds that such reforms has positive impact on the Ugandan economy...it concludes that despite the slow pace of reforms in the banking sector the sector is gradually playing a significant role in the business and economy of Uganda.en_US
