    (2008) Okwi, James
DISSERTATION: Students discipline is a significant aspect in school administration. A study on the influence of foreign students’ behavior on the discipline management in secondary schools was carried out in selected secondary schools in Mbale municipality of Mbale district. The study aimed at establishing the proportion of foreign student in the secondary schools, the magnitude of indiscipline in the schools, the measures in place to deal with indiscipline in the schools and the support extended to the students to ensure proper discipline in the schools. The study adopted a survey research design in which interviews; questionnaires and focus group discussions were used to collect data from education officers, headteachers, teacher, students, and members of BOG and opinion leaders in selected secondary schools. A total of 109 respondents participated in this study. The results of the study indicate that there is a significant proportion of foreign students in the secondary schools and the magnitude of indiscipline in the schools is high. Although there are a number of measures to curb down indiscipline, the student leaders are not adequately involved in discipline management. It is concluded that generally there is a high proportion of foreign students in the secondary schools in Mbale municipality and their behavior significantly accounts for the indiscipline in these secondary schools. The study recommends that headteachers who have not been effectively involving students’ leadership in their administration should endeavor to do so as this will eventually lead to improved discipline management of their schools.
