Whereas institutions in Muslim majority countries have attempted to adopt the integrated curriculum, institutions in Muslim minority countries like IUIU still face limitations for example of lectures and students of different back grounds (Muslims and non-Muslims) and anon supportive environment. This paper explores the integration of Islamic Knowledge into medical education ,with a focus on experiences from Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU). Methodology: A Literature review approach was used to identify the practices of the implementation of the integrated curriculum for both Muslim majority and Muslim minority countries focusing at IUIU. The study notices a number of challenges for a holistic integration of the curriculum in Muslim minority countries. Conclusion and recommendations: The paper recommends that Islamic medical colleges adopt a unified curriculum framework incorporating Islamic perspectives into both preclinical and clinical subjects. It also calls for training of medical lecturers in basic Islamic studies.
